Take-Home Horror: Jack Frost (1997)

Hey there, Creepy Peeps! Sorry, this is up a little late, the week got the better of me! But I’m here with another DVD/Blu-ray special feature review for Jack Frost!

I own the Blu-ray copy with the reversible cover and the special features include Commentary with director Michael Cooney, Video introduction from director Michael Cooney, Video interview with lead actor Scott MacDonald, and Video interview with Director of Photography Dean Lent.

The video introduction is a nice little feature you don’t see very often on DVDs/Blu-rays nowadays, so I enjoyed that. The commentary is fun and informative, you can really tell everyone had a good time on set and there are a lot of stories and fun times behind all the great (and silly) scenes of the movie. You also learn a lot about some of the hurdles that the filmmakers had to overcome to get this film made.

The two video interviews are pretty cool. The interview with cinematographer Lent is the shorter of the two, but still interesting. MacDonald (who plays/voices Jack Frost) has the best interview; it’s longer than the other one as he seems to have a story for everything. You can tell both gentlemen have a love of the movie and a fascination with the fanbase, which has grown in recent years.

Overall, if you’re a fan of Jack Frost, you would probably do well to get the Blu-ray with the special features, all of the copies of the DVD I could find didn’t have any special features.

Let me know your thoughts on Jack Frost in the comments!
